Big news – to us! vergeAD has moved! We made the long and grueling shift from North Capitol Hill to south Capitol Hill. Ok, so it’s only 2 miles downstream but it feels a world away. Our humble beginnings looked like this – picture it – Leah and Megan working out of Leah’s basement home/office. Tripping over each other to get to the scanner, blaring Pandora radio, and clearing our desks every Monday morning of her kids’ toys.
We are now nestled in what is Seattle’s densest most vibrant neighborhood in the adaptively reused Piston & Ring Building, owned by Liz Dunn. We no longer share an office with a laundry room, but instead with a pretty illustrious crowd (Root Studio Architects, Sundberg Kennedy Ly-Au Young Architects, Preservation Green Lab, Upside Commerce, Plum Bistro & La Spiga) and we’re psyched about it. Big kudos to Barbara Busetti, founder of Root Studio Architects for getting us in!
Now who’s Megan you ask? That’s me – Megan Ruhlach and it is a pleasure to meet you! I was brought onto the vergeAD team this past June, transplanted all the way from the tundra that is Minnesota. Lucky for me, Leah took a leap of faith to hire a student fresh out of college. I’m thrilled to be out of the Midwest and into the Pacific Northwest. With a degree in Interior Design, and a passion for Graphic Design, I have become the rendering, website editing, brand managing, sketchup building, file organizing, and expense reporting guru.
The best part about all these changes at vergeAD is that they were brought about by a steady surge in good clients, more projects and new collaborators. 5 years ago vergeAD was working almost exclusively in the single family residential market. Now we are designing everything from apartments and microhousing to retail and churches. We still stay close to our roots in single family residential design and always will but we can do it all and we love doing it from the heart of the City.
