ADVOCACY SERVICES
Allied8 knows housing policy intimately, whether it’s zoning code, building code, utility codes, or tracking new house bills at the state level that are being negotiated and will soon affect our cities – we are able to navigate it all on behalf of your project. We can fight for your project in a way other architects and developers can’t. This is because we have established trusted relationships with legislators and planners in many jurisdictions around the state, particularly Seattle and San Juan County. Whether you are a community, legacy homeowner, or policy maker we can help.
- We can write capacity, acquisition, pre-development and capital grants for your organization.
- We can identify funding partners.
- We can act as an owner's representative in the early days to help launch your project.
To date we have raised more than $5 million dollars for community organizations. If you have a particular hurdle that you need help with or have a broad idea of what to do but don’t know where to start. We have worked with critical community organizations and non-profits who are building equitable systems and fighting displacement. (CAYA, Black Star Farmers, Sawhorse Revolution, Corvidae Co-op to name a few.)
If you have a particular hurdle that you need help with or have a broad idea of what to do but don't know where to start. Call us for a free consultation and we can chart a path forward for your community or send an inquiry here.
LEGACY HOMEOWNERS threatened with displacement have been helped by Allied8 for the last 8 years. We have been a resource to provide technical expertise regarding architectural design, lending, construction cost, zoning regulations, and team building. We work with Uplift Investments and Resource Equity to help bring projects across the finish line. Any project can start but completing them takes persistence and resolve that Allied8 has in spades. Allied8’s combination of architectural and development technical know-how will get your project over the finish line so you can tap into the equity of your land.
Cascade PBS published a story of how Central District residents got creative to fight displacement. Read the full article here.

POLICY REFORM efforts in many jurisdictions have led them to reach out to Allied8 as a valuable resource. With decades of experience, we are able to pinpoint the failing of our codes based on real world examples. In doing so we daylight where our codes fail us and where blind spots occur that invariably harm certain communities over others. We have authorized and/or advised Design Guidelines for Puyallup, Adaptive Reuse Policy for the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Equitable Development Zoning legislation for Seattle, and countless analysis of the Seattle Municipal Code.
You can read a recent memo that we sent to city leaders here.
